JSGH Newsletter – April 2021

April 2021 Issue: April 2, 2021

Message from the President

Dear JSGH Members and Friends,

Spring has sprung, and I hope that you’ve all been able to get outside and enjoy some of the nice weather we’ve been having.  And although there has been a recent increase in COVID-19 in the state, with the wide availability of the vaccine, if we work to avoid another surge now, we all have good reasons to be cautiously optimistic about this spring and summer.

As our lives slowly progress towards something closer to normal, we would be very interested in your opinion on JSGH activities and what types of events that you’d like to see in the future.  I would like to encourage everyone to take some time and fill out our anonymous Member survey for 2021.  See below for more details and a link.

Also, we’re currently planning on a return to in-person events!  Our next JSGH event will be a Hanami Picnic at Gillette Castle, where we’re hoping to be able to enjoy our newly planted cherry tree in full bloom!  We’re still not sure exactly when that will be, but we’re monitoring their progress and will notify everyone as soon as possible.  While we will be practicing mask-wearing and social distancing for this event, it should be a great chance to enjoy the weather and enjoy everyone’s company once again.  We hope that you can join us!

Best Regards,

Peter Watson

Origami on Zoom was Great Success –Thanks to everyone who helped make our origami party on Zoom a success, especially our talented instructors!  We had a good turn out, and it was great fun to learn some new and interesting things to make with origami.

Help us Improve The Japan Society of Greater Hartford!  – You would help JSGH a lot by taking the 2021 JSGH Member Survey (Linked Here). It should only take a few short minutes to complete, but your input will be invaluable to help us improve JSGH as an organization and make sure we’ll be having events that you’ll like!
