COVID-19: Novel Coronavirus Disease

  • Pneumonia of unknown cause detected in Wuhan, China was first reported to the WHO Country Office in China on 31 December 2019.
  • The outbreak was declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern on January 30, 2020.
  • On February 11, WHO announced a name for the new coronavirus disease: COVID-19.
  • On February 26, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the U.S. is ready for whatever the coronavirus threat brings, and he put his vice president in charge of overseeing the nation’s response.

Presentation topics include current knowledge of COVID-19 in pathology, epidemiology, prevention, diagnosis, and therapeutic interventions.

While some of you may use systems like this in your working life, we realize that for many others this may be your first time to use video conferencing.  It can be a little technically challenging, so we’re planning on having a group test call on Friday March 20th at 8pm, for those of you who would like to try to connect via the above options.  The links and the meeting room will be the same as for Nihongo Night on Saturday, so it will be good practice.  Feel free to invite others.
The main focus of this meeting will be the presentation of the guest speaker, followed by a question and answer session.  We hope to see you there!
