At our next Nihongo Night, we will watch a Japanese movie this month: It was the age of civil war in Japan. Feudal lords fought with each other trying to expand their territories, fights erupted even among a father and sons, and among brothers. Toranaga, a feudal load (acted by Tatsuya Nakadai) lived himself such a life since he was a young man. He finally expelled and managed to secure territory of his own. Getting old he now wants to transfer the rights to the three of his sons and retire happily… A masterpiece of director Akira Kurosawa.

今月の日本語ナイトは日本の映画「乱」を鑑賞します: 時は戦国時代の日本、近隣の領主たちはもとより、親と子が、兄弟同士が権力をめぐって争いあっていた時代。領主虎長も若いころから戦に次ぐ戦の日々を重ね、ようやく一国を切り取ったのであるが、いまや年を重ねた虎長(仲代達也)は三人の息子たちに後を任せ、安楽に隠居することにした… 監督黒澤明の代表作。
