Patent – October Nihongo Night

Patent – by Akisato Oshima

Do you know what a patent is? A patent is a right of an inventor. A patent permits the inventor to exclude others from using the invention for a period of time. On the other hand, a patent publication enables us to know the detail of the invention. After the patent expired, we can also use the invention. All developed countries, including the US and Japan, have own patent system. They are very similar but independent with each other.
In this talk, I would like to explain briefly about patent systems in the US and Japan. I would be pleased if you would be more interested in the patent.

It’s not a requirement, but we will appreciate if you can bring a dish or dessert to share.
